Basic Principles

Getting Started > Basic Principles

These are the basic principles to which a person practicing Yoga should stick to if he/she wants to get the maximum benefits from its practice. Yoga implies on just being natural and relaxed which acts as a preventive method for all diseases.

Regular Exercise

Yoga believes that if all the body parts perform their natural movements regularly there are very less chances of them getting affected by disorders. Today due to higher levels of technological convenience our body movements are restricted to a much greater extent to which Yoga provides an effective solution.

Controlled Breathing

Controlled breathing is one of the most important methods of maintaining health. Yoga provides an environment in which the use of internal organs is to their maximum capacity and are properly coordinated.

Sufficient Relaxation

By relaxing deeply all the muscles the Yogi can thoroughly rejuvenate his nervous system and attain a deep sense of inner peace. Relaxation helps in concentrated work and stress management.

Balanced Diet

Besides being responsible for building our physical body, the foods we eat profoundly affect our immunity. For maximum body-mind efficiency, Yoga advocates a lacto-vegetarian diet. This is an integral part of the Yogic lifestyle. However one need not compulsorily be a pure vegetarian before starting the practice of Yoga.

Meditation

A positive attitude towards life and a calm mind can be achieved by the practice of meditation. It would not be wrong if called the most important aspect of Yoga. The right approach towards life can be achieved by meditating at least for 10 minutes a day.
