  • Yoga originated in India. From a modern historical viewpoint, it is impossible to determine exactly its time of origin, but it certainly is of great age.   • During this later period, at about third century BC, a great sage named Patanjali composed his celebrated Yoga sutras, or aphorisms of Yoga. Though the knowledge of Yoga had existed for thousands of years before him, he is considered to be the first author who truly systemized Yoga and laid down exact methods and techniques for attaining it.
